Candidate who died last week.
Shortly after the news went round, the ACT
Wazalendo party spokesperson, Mr Abdallah Khamis confirmed that the
charismatic Mallah died at about 1.00 hours (after midnight) in the
early Friday Morning, possibly of heart attack.
Mr Mallah has passed away only two days after he
campaigned alongside the ACT-Wazalendo Presidential Candidate, Mama
Anna Nghwira, during her Arusha-leg of the campaigns in the city.
This was the second time that the late Mallah was
running for parliamentary post in Arusha-Urban. He contested in 2000
via the Tanzania Labour Party (TLP) and lost to Mr Felix Christopher
Mrema of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM). In 2005, TLP dropped him and
enlisted one Godbless Lema to vie for parliamentary position via the
party but he also lost to CCM’s Mr Mrema.
During the previous General Elections of 2010 Mr
Mallah contested instead, for Kimandolu Ward seat and won through the
Chama Cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo (CHADEMA) a party which six months
afterwards threw him and other five ward representatives from its fold.
Returning Officer for Arusha-Urban Constituency,
Alhaj Juma Idd said the local residents will now vote for Presidential
and Ward Representative Candidates. The Parliamentary Polls will be
announced later, possibly next December of early next year 2016.
